Mother Nature endowed Golden Grass (Capim Dourado in Portuguese) , a herbaceous plant of the immortal family, with a vibrant colour that evokes gold. Beautiful, light and unique, it is cultivated, harvested and woven according to indigenous traditions transmitted by women in the ‘Jalapão’ region in Brazil, which is the only land where this plant grows during only 2 months of the year. Created and developed in a fair and respectful process.

Our pieces are hypoallergenic, plated in 18ct gold, nickel free. They are manufactured with selected raw materials of natural origin, which can lead to small variations in colour, shape, and size. They are handmade. This means that there is no mass production, that is, variations can occur and this makes each piece unique. Gems: textures, markings, and colours are exclusive properties of each gem, that is, there is no repetition.

This wonder of nature called Capim Dourado in Brazil, is grown in the heart of Jalapão (Tocantins state). Vegetal gold is an unusual herbaceous plant, naturally adorned with a magnificent and impressive golden metallic colour.
THIS NATURALLY GOLDEN REED, USED TO MAKE JEWELRY AND DECORATIVE OBJECTS, IS HARVESTED ONLY FOR ONE MONTH, FROM SEPTEMBER TO NOVEMBER. DURING THIS PERIOD, ITS STEMS COME TO MATURITY AND TAKE ON THEIR GOLDEN COLOUR. ITS HARVESTING IS STRICTLY REGULATED IN BRAZIL: ONLY THE STEMS ARE HARVESTED IN ORDER TO PRESERVE THE ROOTS, THE BIODIVERSITY AND TO AVOID ITS EXTINCTION.

The harvesting of vegetal gold is the most important economic resource in the region. The women living in the villages near the Jalapão work on the stems once they are harvested.

Highly skilled in the art of weaving, the craftsmen have passed on this knowledge from generation to generation. Today, it is in the hands of the ‘Mumbuca’ women, a matriarchal community living in the ‘Jalapão’ region. Very trendy in Brazil, this highly prized herb for artisanal creation is a novelty establishing itself in Europe.
